Jeannette Petrik, geboren 1988 in Ostberlin, arbeitet mit Räumen und Prozessen kollektiver und individueller Reflektion und hinterfragt dabei Hierarchien und Dominanzstrukturen. Text, Klang, Performance und die Organisation kollektiver Erfahrungen spielen eine zentrale Rolle in ihrer künstlerischen Praxis, die zu einem Mittel der Konfrontation unterschiedlicher Subjektivitäten wird. Ihre Arbeit konzentriert sich auf Sprache, Kommunikation, Noise und Design (die gezielte Ausführung von Handlungen) als analytische Haltung. Als nicht-Weiße, nicht-binäre Person, die in einer überwiegend Weißen, heteronormativen Gesellschaft aufgewachsen ist, spielen persönliche Perspektiven oft eine wichtige Rolle in Jeannette Petriks Arbeiten. Sie glaubt an Zweifel und Disruption als Mittel, um Menschen zusammenzubringen, und sieht Entfremdung ebenso wie Kollektivität und Solidarität als zentrale soziale Werte. Seit 2013 ist sie in der deutschen und niederländischen DIY-Szene aktiv  —insbesondere im Bereich Freetekno und Modular Synth — nachdem sie am Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London und an der Design Academy Eindhoven studiert hatte. Im September 2022 wurde die Protest-Oper „To Fall Safely” im Staatstheater Braunschweig uraufgeführt, deren Libretto in Zusammenarbeit mit Katharina Kern entstand. Von 2021 bis 2024 war sie Teil des New Centre for Research and Practice.
Jeannette Petrik, born in East Berlin in 1988, works within spaces and processes of collective and individual reflection, questioning hierarchies and structures of dominance. Text, sound, performance and the organisation of collective experiences play a central role in their artistic practice, which becomes a means of confronting different subjectivities. Their work focuses on language, communication, noise and design (the directed execution of actions) as an analytical stance. As a non-White, non-binary person who grew up within a predominantly White heteronormative society, personal perspectives often play a major role within Jeannette Petrik's works. They believe in doubt and disruption as a means of bringing people together and sees alienation as well as collectivity and solidarity as central social values. They have been active in German and Dutch DIY scenes — particularly Freetekno and modular synth contexts — since 2013, after their studies at Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London and Design Academy Eindhoven. In September 2020, a somewhat impromptu residency at the exhibition and project space Onomatopee was initiated. With the focus of spending three consequitve days on the street of Lucas Gasselstraat in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, the project relied on a process guided by intuition, observation and association. The result is a reflective publication, which displays its autofictional text as if it was a script, presented as part of the exhibition ‘Rights of Way’.Im September 2020 wurde eine spontane Residenz im Ausstellungs- und Projektraum von Onomatopee ins Leben gerufen, deren Schwerpunkt darauf lag, Zeit auf Lucas Gasselstraat in Eindhoven, Niederlande, zu verbringen. Das Projekt basierte auf einem Prozess, der von Intuition, Beobachtung und Assoziation geleitet wurde. Das Ergebnis ist eine Publikation, die eine auto-fiktionale Reflektion wie ein Drehbuch präsentiert und im Rahmen der Ausstellung ‘Rights of Way’ als Installation gezeigt wurde.
