Jeannette Petrik, 1988 in Berlin geboren, beschäftigt sich seit ihrem Studium am Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London und der Design Academy Eindhoven mit kollektiven Räumen und Prozessen und hinterfragt Hierarchien und Dominanzstrukturen. Text, Sound, Performance und das Organisieren kollektiver Erfahrungen spielen dabei eine zentrale Rolle. Die künstlerische Praxis wird hier zum Mittel zur Konfrontation mit verschiedenen Subjektivitäten und setzt einen Fokus auf Sprache, Kommunikation, Noise und Design als analytische Haltung. Als nicht-weiße, nicht-binäre Person, geprägt von einer weißen heteronormativen Mehrheitsgesellschaft, fließen persönliche Perspektiven oft in die Arbeiten von Jeannette Petrik ein. Sie glaubt an Zweifel und ‘Disruption’ als Mittel, um Menschen zusammenzubringen, und sieht ‘Alienation’ sowie Kollektivität und Solidarität als zentrale soziale Werte. Seit 2013 ist sie aktiv in deutschen und niederländischen DIY-Szenen. Seit 2021 ist sie Teil des New Centre for Research and Practice. Im September 2022 wurde die Oper ‘To Fall Safely’ am Staatstheater Braunschweig uraufgeführt, deren Libretto im Austausch mit Katharina Kern entstand.

Jeannette Petrik, born in Berlin in 1988, has been working with collective spaces and processes since her studies at Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London and Design Academy Eindhoven, questioning hierarchies and structures of dominance. Text, sound, performance and the organisation of collective experiences play a central role in their artistic practice, which becomes a means of confronting different subjectivities and focuses on language, communication, noise and design as an analytical stance. As a non-white, non-binary person who grew up within a white heteronormative society, personal perspectives often play a major role within Jeannette Petrik's works. She believes in doubt and disruption as a means of bringing people together and sees alienation as well as collectivity and solidarity as central social values. She has been active in German and Dutch DIY scenes since 2013. Since 2021, she is part of the New Centre for Research and Practice. In September 2022, the opera 'To Fall Safely' premiered at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, the libretto of which was written in collaboration with Katharina Kern.

Wie Werde Ich Mein Bauchfett Los in 14 Tagen (How to Lose My Belly Fat in 14 Days) is the result of a short and intensive collaboration between performing artists who confronted questions about physicality and efficiency. Starting from aerobic Youtube tutorials, fail compilations and fall instructions, the body is explored as a failing body, a missing body and a falling body. Trapped in endless repetition, we explore the development of pathological and disease-causing routines, we switch off our minds, to the point of burnout. Our bodies are our capital.

Wie Werde Ich Mein Bauchfett Los in 14 Tagen ist das Ergebnis einer kurzen und intensiven Zusammenarbeit zwischen performenden Künstler:innen, die sich mit Fragen nach Körperlichkeit und Leistung beschäftigt haben. Ausgehend von Aerobic Youtube Tutorials, Fail Compilations und Fall-Anleitungen wird der Körper als Failkörper bzw. Fehlkörper und Fallkörper erforscht. Gefangen in endloser Wiederholung, entwickeln wir krankhafte und krankmachende Routinen, schalten unsere Köpfe ab, bis hin zum etwaigen Burnout. Körper sind unser Kapital.
